Perfume Oils and Sensitive Skin: What Should You Know?

Have sensitive skin? Learn how to approach perfume oils carefully, test a new fragrance and know when fragrance may not be right for you.

Having sensitive skin does not automatically mean you cannot enjoy fragrance, but it does mean you should be more careful when trying something new.

For a first Lily Essences application, start with one light pass on a small area rather than immediately applying fragrance everywhere.

If irritation develops, stop using the product.

People with known fragrance allergies, fragrance-triggered asthma, medical skin sensitivities or other relevant health concerns should be especially cautious and seek advice from a healthcare professional when appropriate. FDA notes that some people can experience allergies or sensitivities to fragrance ingredients.

And remember: “natural” does not automatically mean irritation-free.

A cautious first application is much more useful than trusting a marketing word.
